VOLUNTEER

If you would like to Volunteer please stop by the Shelter or call 618-847-4012 and see what you can do to help. We would love to be able to have the cats given attention on a one on one basis. We need the dogs walked and played with as well. Any attention given to these animals help give them a better chance at finding their furever homes.

If you are bitten by an animal please follow these steps: Go to the Hospital and have them fill out a bite report and fax it to the County Animal Control Administrator. Contact the Humane Society and Local Law Enforcement. If the bite happens in town call your local police department, or if it happens in the county call the County Sheriff. Please try to know as much as you can about the animal that bit you and  the owner of the animal. Any information that you can give us will help us move through the process of determining if the animal is aggressive or if it was a one time thing.

Dog of the week!

Hi y'all. My name is Bear and I am the biggest cuddliest dog there is here at the shelter. I am just a big old teddy bear. Please make sure I am in a safe place away from glass if you are going to leave me for any amount of time. I have separation anxiety and tend to freak out a little bit. Last time I broke a window and hurt myself. I didn’t mean to. I just thought they were never coming back and I was going to have to find a way outside to hunt my own food. Boy was I wrong. I think I will just stay inside from now on. I don’t want to get hurt again. Please no kittens, they look like a quick snack and I don't want to be tempted. If you would be interested in having a real life teddy bear please call the Humane Society at 618-847-4012.
